Close to a million Rohingya people were forced to flee terrifying violence in Myanmar – in what the UN called a “textbook definition of ethnic cleansing” – and are now living in overcrowded conditions in the world’s largest refugee camp in Bangladesh. In 2018 I was seconded to the camp as Oxfam’s Media Lead for the Rohingya Crisis to help shine a light on the issue and encourage donations for humanitarian supplies. As well as gathering content for journalists, I gave radio interviews and delivered media training to the country team.
